Allison Transmission Gears up New Aomori Airport Fire Engine

In order to upgrade the old fleet, Aomori Airport recently delivered the Rosenbauer Panther 8x8 Airport Fire Rescue Vehicle. The car is equipped with twin engines and two Allison 4800 fully automatic gearboxes.

Compared to other vehicles, Panther 8x8 has better driving performance, handling experience and fire fighting ability. With a total vehicle weight of 43 tons, Allison's Continuous Power TechnologyTM seamlessly matches the two Volvo TAD 1662 VE engines, enabling the vehicle to quickly ramp up to 80kph in 25 seconds.

The torque converter of the Allison transmission smoothly multiplies the engine torque and delivers more power to the drive wheels. With increased engine power, the driver gets better vehicle performance, quicker start-up, and better control flexibility. Allison's fully automatic gearboxes are known for their quality and reliability, and they bring the overall economic benefits to the user.

The Panther 8x8 is equipped with the largest body of an airport fire truck. It can hold 12,500 litres of water, 800 liters of chemical liquid and 300 kilograms of fire-extinguishing powder. It can discharge 6,000 liters of fire extinguishers per minute from the top tower at a height of 90 meters.

In addition, the blaster cannon jets at a speed of 500 liters per minute to protect the fire truck from the fire caused by the aircraft’s oil spill. Two Volvo engines and two Allison 4800 7-speed automatic transmissions with two-speed reverse gear and retarder to allow the fire fighting vehicle to perform the fire extinguishing mission on the move.

When a fire truck arrives at an aircraft accident site, the conventionally equipped chemically equipped fire truck must first stop and then start the PTO operation. However, the Panther 8x8 can perform a fire extinguishing operation while on the road, so that the fire extinguishes faster and remains on the runway. A taxi accident on the plane fires.

A bottle cage is device used to affix a water bottle to a bicycle. Composed of plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium or carbon fiber, it is attached to the main frame of a bicycle, the handlebars, behind the saddle, or, in uncommon cases, the fork. Most modern bicycles have threaded holes in the frame to hold the bottle cage, often called braze-ons even though they may be welded, glued, riveted, or moulded into the frame material. Clamps are necessary on bicycles not so equipped, such as older or less expensive models.
