Last week, ChargeLab announced an opportunity to migrate commercial Enel X Way EV chargers to our OCPP-based back-end for enhanced charging station management. Today, we’re excited to share that dozens of these devices have successfully been moved to our network. In light of the recent uncertainty in the EV charging software space, we want to provide more insight into the process and what it means for site hosts and drivers.
For a closer look at one of the recently migrated sites, watch the video below featuring ChargeLab CEO Zak Lefevre:
Technical Challenges
It’s important to note that Enel X Way commercial EV chargers are not straightforward OCPP devices. They require a complex reconfiguration process before they can be connected to a new charging station management system (CSMS). To date, ChargeLab is one of the few CSMS providers capable of completing this migration on time—specifically by the October 11 deadline. If you're speaking with another provider about migrating Enel X Way chargers, make sure they’ve successfully done this in the past few days and understand the intricacies involved.ChargeLab's Solution
Thanks to the hard work of our engineering team, we've developed a reliable and efficient method to migrate Enel X Way chargers quickly. The process includes backend configuration from ChargeLab and simple on-site steps that can be completed by a technician using a laptop or smartphone. Here are some photos from a condo building in Toronto during and after the migration:

For EV drivers, the experience also changes. You’ll now use the ChargeLab web app or mobile apps, which are available under our brand or through white-label partners. We also offer a fully functional web app that lets you charge directly from your browser without needing to download any apps.

Network Migration Progress
As of Monday, October 7, we are actively migrating 612 Level 2 and DC fast chargers from Enel X Way’s commercial back-end. We expect to add thousands more this week as our teams continue working efficiently. We still have capacity to handle more chargers this week, thanks to the incredible efforts of our engineering, operations, and support teams.
