Chlor-alkali production in Europe and the United States fell sharply

According to data released by the American Chlorine Association recently, the operating rate of chlor-alkali plants in the United States continued to decline in December 2009, falling by 6 percentage points from the previous month to 76%; chlorine production fell by about 6% to 156,700 tons; liquid caustic soda The output is about 72,400 tons, which is about 7.5% less than the previous month.
During the same period, the output of chlor-alkali in Europe also dropped significantly. According to the latest data from the European Chlor-Alkali Industry Association, in December last year, the European chlorine production fell by about 10% from the previous month to 737,700 tons, but it increased substantially by 26% year-on-year; the inventory of caustic soda in Europe was lower than that in November. It fell by approximately 6% to 240,200 tons, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The operating rate of chlor-alkali plant decreased by 3.5% from the previous month to 66.5%.
