Long Grove firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer rollover on the ramp from northbound I-53 to westbound Lake Cook Road early this afternoon. The location has seen multiple truck accidents over the years, making it a high-risk area for such incidents. Alongside Long Grove units, Buffalo Grove Tower 25 also arrived at the scene. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and required immediate extrication.
Once the driver was safely taken to the hospital, fire crews remained on standby while a towing and recovery company was called in to upright and remove the truck and trailer. The operation involved several heavy-duty vehicles working together to stabilize and lift the wrecked semi-truck.
