Twin-screw pumps are widely used in various industries, including maritime applications, as efficient equipment for transporting fluid media. However, traditional twin-screw pumps have a fixed rotation direction that cannot be changed after design and production. This limitation restricts their applicability in certain special scenarios. To address this issue, we have developed a two-way operation twin-screw pump with adjustable rotation. In conventional twin-screw pumps, the active and passive screws rotate in opposite directions. The mechanical seal typically uses a single spring, which must align with the screw rotation. If the rotation direction is reversed, the mechanical seal can be damaged, leading to significant leakage. Additionally, during the pumping process, the pump relies on negative pressure to draw in the fluid and push it out. In real-world applications, when oil depots or tanks are empty, the pump may stop working. If it continues running, it could suck air, causing dry friction of the mechanical seal and potentially damaging it. At the same time, the output pipeline may still contain a large amount of untransferred media, resulting in waste. Some users resort to using an external gear pump to recover the remaining oil, but this method poses serious risks. Gear pumps operate by using high-speed meshing gears to create a high-pressure zone for fluid delivery. However, when handling flammable or explosive media such as gasoline or diesel, this can be dangerous. The gears are typically made of steel, and when immersed in oil, high-speed meshing can generate heat and even sparks, increasing the risk of fire or explosion. In some specific applications, customers require two-way transmission (not simultaneously). Using a standard twin-screw pump would necessitate setting up two separate transmission lines, which increases costs.
