This is from Larry Shapiro:
Residents contacted the Wheeling Fire Department on Wednesday evening, reporting an explosion in the kitchen at 293 Lincoln Road. When the first police officer arrived, he noticed smoke coming from the house and reported that one person required medical attention. Firefighters arrived shortly after and confirmed a fire inside the split-level home.
An ambulance transported the injured individual to a local hospital, and the incident was upgraded to a working fire. Two interior lines were deployed quickly to bring the flames under control.
Fire units from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Northbrook joined the response, along with two engine companies, two ambulances, a ladder truck, and two chief officers from Wheeling.
Here are some photos and a short video of the scene.
