Cangzhou City to build a 100 billion cluster of LED industry

As the largest LED industry base in the province, the output value of LED industry in Chenzhou City last year was 1.6 billion yuan, and in the first half of this year, the figure reached 1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.10, the deputy secretary of the municipal party committee and mayor I came to the Zhangzhou High-tech Industrial Park to investigate the development of the LED industry in Chenzhou. Bohai pointed out that the LED industry is the benchmark for the industrial transformation and development of Chenzhou City. It is necessary to seize the opportunity, accelerate development, and strive to build a national first-class LED industry base and 100 billion industrial clusters.
Bohai has successively come to Hualei Optoelectronics, Philips Lighting, Changqi New Energy, Huazhuo Optoelectronics and other enterprises to learn more about the development status of the LED industry in Chenzhou City, the problems it faces and the future development direction of the LED industry.
At present, Hualei Optoelectronics has 32 MOCVD equipment and 1.1 million chips. Philips Lighting plans to purchase 100 acres of land, build standard factory buildings, configure production equipment and introduce LED high-tech talents. It is estimated that the annual output of LED street lighting products will be 50,000 units. Changqi New Energy utilizes the patented technology of independent intellectual property rights to upgrade the LED to an integrated light-emitting working mode, and utilizes the red ion superconducting heat-dissipating technology to solve the technical problem of difficult heat dissipation, greatly reducing the production cost of the LED and prolonging the use of the product. life. At present, the production capacity of LED lamps in Chenzhou City has reached about 500,000 per year.
Although the development of LED industry in Chenzhou City is gratifying, there are also problems such as the small scale of enterprises, the lack of independent intellectual property rights and leading enterprises, and insufficient supporting enterprises in the industrial chain. Bohai said that it is necessary to adhere to the principles of market leadership, government guidance, corporate ownership, and policy incentives. We must do a good job in industrial development planning, integrate industry-guided funds, and focus on supporting leading enterprises; we must give preferential policies in areas such as taxation, land, and talent protection; we must strengthen classified guidance, provide services for enterprises to innovate and develop, and cultivate advantageous enterprises to go public; Give play to the main role of enterprises and take the road of independent innovation; accelerate industrial agglomeration, extend the industrial chain, attract investment in a targeted manner, form a benign competition, and enlarge and strengthen the LED industry in Zhangzhou as soon as possible.

"Gravity Die Casting. A permanent mould casting process, where the molten metal is poured from a vessle of ladle into the mould, and cavity fills with no force other than gravity, in a similar manner to the production of sand castings, although filling cn be controlled by tilting the die."

Gravity Die Casting

Sometimes referred to as Permanent Mould, GDC is a repeatable casting process used for non-ferrous alloy parts, typically aluminium, Zinc and Copper Base alloys.

The process differs from HPDC in that Gravity- rather than high pressure- is used to fill the mould with the liquid alloy.

GDC is suited to medium to high volumes products and typically parts are of a heavier sections than HPDC, but thinner sections than sand casting.

There are three key stages in the process.

  1. The heated mould [Die or Tool] is coated with a die release agent. The release agent spray also has a secondary function in that it aids cooling of the mould face after the previous part has been removed from the die.
  2. Molten metal is poured into channels in the tool to allow the material to fill all the extremities of the mould cavity. The metal is either hand poured using steel ladles or dosed using mechanical methods. Typically, there is a mould [down sprue" that allows the alloy to enter the mould cavity from the lower part of the die, reducing the formation of turbulence and subsequent porosity and inclusions in the finished part.
  3. Once the part has cooled sufficiently, the die is opened, either manually or utilising mechanical methods.

Advantages

  • Good dimensional accuracy
  • Smoother cast surface finish than sand casting
  • Improved mechanical properties compared to sand casting
  • Thinner walls can be cast compared to sand casting
  • Reverse draft internal pockets and forms can be cast in using preformed sand core inserts
  • Steel pins and inserts can be cast in to the part
  • Faster production times compared to other processes.
  • Once the tolling is proven, the product quality is very repeatable.
  • Outsourced Tooling setup costs can be lower than sand casting.
