Countryside shows off new engine … and entertains many

The Countryside Fire Protection District has been conducting a series of training exercises for several weeks now at 27693 Chevy Chase Road in Mundelein. The homeowner generously donated the house for fire training, with the condition that it would be burned down to make way for a new home. Dan McInerney captured some great images of the newly arrived Rosenbauer Centurion engine and tender from US Tanker, which you can view HERE.

Last Sunday, the department invited local residents, neighboring fire departments, their families, CERT volunteers, and anyone interested in large-scale fire demonstrations to witness the controlled burn. Among those in attendance was Larry Shapiro, who worked closely with the firefighters to capture some striking images of the new Rosenbauer engine against a fiery backdrop. A full gallery of photos is available HERE, with a video coming soon.

Fire departments from Wauconda, Long Grove, and Libertyville brought their tankers to ensure a continuous water supply during the exercise. Notably, the Libertyville Fire Department used their 1988 Pierce Dash tanker, which had recently been transferred from the Countryside FPD. It has since been re-lettered for Libertyville service.
