Countryside shows off new engine … and entertains many

The Countryside Fire Protection District has been conducting multiple training exercises for several weeks at 27693 Chevy Chase Road in Mundelein. The property was donated by the homeowner specifically for fire training purposes, with the understanding that the house would eventually be demolished to make way for a new home. Local photographer Dan McInerney captured some great images of the new Rosenbauer Centurion engine and tender from US Tanker, which you can view [here](#).

On Sunday, the department opened the event to the public, inviting local residents, neighboring fire departments, their families, CERT volunteers, and anyone interested in witnessing controlled burns to attend. Larry Shapiro was among those present, and he had the chance to photograph the new Rosenbauer Centurion engine in action. A full gallery of photos is available [here](#), and a video will also be released soon.

Fire departments from Wauconda, Long Grove, and Libertyville brought tankers to ensure a steady water supply at the scene. Notably, Libertyville’s tanker, a 1988 Pierce Dash model (1250/2500), was recently transferred from Countryside and has since been re-lettered for Libertyville.
