We mentioned earlier today about an interesting event at Arlington Park. Tyler Tobolt shared some great photos with us, including images of the old FDNY Rescue 5 and Bellwood’s iconic Grumman AerialCat. These vintage fire apparatuses are a nostalgic reminder of the past and show how far firefighting equipment has evolved over the years.
The FDNY Rescue 5, in particular, is a classic piece of fire department history. It was one of the first aerial ladders designed specifically for rescue operations, and its design helped shape modern firefighting tactics. Meanwhile, the Grumman AerialCat from Bellwood Fire Department is another rare find, showcasing the craftsmanship and engineering of mid-20th-century fire apparatus.
These photos not only highlight the beauty of these older vehicles but also serve as a tribute to the brave firefighters who once operated them. If you're a fan of vintage fire trucks or interested in the history of emergency services, these images are definitely worth checking out.
