On May 16, Volvo Car Group China announced that Mr. Fu Qiang, President and CEO of Volvo Car China Sales Co., Ltd., resigned due to personal development reasons. Mr. Yuan Xiaolin, President of Volvo Car Asia Pacific, will also serve as interim head of China Sales Company. The successor will be announced separately.
According to data released by Volvo, Volvo's global sales exceeded 500,000 in 2015. The Volvo XC90 became the largest driving force for Volvo sales. However, the XC90 has not been able to continue the good performance of other models in the Chinese market. In the Chinese market, Volvo still relies mainly on the 60 series models. In the first quarter, it sold 19,600 units in the Chinese market, up 13.4% year-on-year. Among them, XC60 sales contributed 45%, and its flagship model XC90, which is built to the fullest, accounted for about 6% of sales.
It can be seen that during the tenure of Fu Qiang, Volvo has achieved unprecedented gratifying results in the Chinese market.
Mr. Fu Qiang joined Volvo Cars in May 2012 and is responsible for the marketing, sales, networking and after-sales business in China. Over the past four years, Mr. Fu Qian has led the team to make a significant contribution to the development of Volvo brand and sales.
