January-August Sales of Cars Increase by 23.68%

According to the latest statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in August, the country’s auto production and sales completed 375,200 vehicles and 382,300 vehicles, respectively, with a production and sales ratio of 101.89%, which was the highest in nearly eight months. From the perspective of growth rate, compared with the previous month, production and sales increased by 5.97% and 10.50%, respectively, an increase of 3.66% and 8.37% respectively. From January to August, the country’s total production and sales of automobiles reached 3.405 million and 3.28 million, which was an increase of 21.18% and 19.2% respectively year-on-year, and continued to maintain steady growth. Among them, the total production and sales of sedan cars were 1,600,800 and 1,505,900, and the sales-to-sales ratio was 92.91%, an increase of 26.23% and 23.68% respectively year-on-year. From the perspective of sales volume, the sales growth of trucks still ranks first, followed by passenger cars. Although the growth of cars is not significant, the increase is not significant. The production and sales of trucks this month reached 119,900 units and 123.6 thousand units respectively, and the sales ratio was 103.09%. Compared with the previous month, the production and sales increased by 25.57% and 25.66% respectively, which was a year-on-year increase respectively. 25.69% and 28.54%; Although the sedan has been rid of the trend of continuous decline for several months, the increase is small. The production and sales of finished cars this month were 171,900 units and 171,300 units respectively, and the sales-to-sales ratio was 99.07. %, compared with the previous month, production and sales increased 0.02% and 0.23%, respectively, an increase of 0.36% and 2.22% respectively. Compared with the previous month, passenger cars have continued to decline, but the decline has slowed down markedly. This month, production and sales reached 83,500 vehicles and 88,300 vehicles, respectively, with a production and sales ratio of 105.75%. The ratio of production and sales increased significantly compared with the previous month. The output decreased by 3.79%, and the sales volume increased by 13.75%, which was a year-on-year decrease of 12.45% and 1.82% respectively. Compared with the previous month, the sales of the top five automotive companies (groups) this month have not changed, and they are still in the categories of FAW, SAIC, BAIC, Dongfeng and Chang’an with sales of 84,200 units and 63,600 units respectively. There were 44,000 vehicles, 36,800 vehicles and 34,500 vehicles. Compared with the previous month, except for SAIC Motor's decline from the previous month, the other five companies maintained stable growth. From January to August this year, the auto companies that sold more than 300,000 vehicles were: FAW, SAIC, BAIC, Chang'an, and Dongfeng. The sales were 615,600, 567,700, 339,200, and 33.32 respectively. 10,000 vehicles and 322,000 vehicles were up 7.82%, 19.54%, 63.29%, 28.99% and 0.23% over the same period last year.
