Rare earth butadiene rubber process package localization

The reporter learned from the China National Petroleum Corporation Jinzhou Petrochemical Company on July 7th that the R&D of the rare earth butadiene rubber developed and researched by the scientific research staff of our country was approved by experts from the Science and Technology Department of Liaoning Province. Experts believe that the catalyst development and complete production processes of the project have reached the international advanced level. This result not only formed a synthetic rare earth butadiene rubber technology with localization of independent intellectual property rights, but also could be used as an export technology to improve the competitiveness of China's synthetic rubber industry in the international rubber market.
The rare earth butadiene rubber product development and industrialization project is a technology jointly developed by Jinzhou Petrochemical Company and the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is a domestic initiative, and also a national "863" plan and a major support project of China National Petroleum Corporation. The rare earth butadiene rubber is a random high cis-polybutadiene obtained by adiabatic polymerization method using rare earth lanthanum as a main catalyst, butadiene as a monomer and hexane as a solvent.
During the development of the project, Jinzhou Petrochemical researchers broke through the heterogeneous properties of rare earth catalysts and key technologies that are difficult to control in the molecular weight distribution of butadiene rubber; they overcome the large viscosity of the glue in production, transmission difficulties, and unstable and difficult product quality. Technological problems such as processing have led to the development of highly efficient, stable, homogeneous rare-earth catalyst preparation technologies; using continuous feed, continuous aging and adiabatic polymerization processes, breakthroughs have been made in the relative molecular mass and distribution control of butadiene rubber. Mastered techniques for synthesizing different relative molecular mass distributions and Mooney viscosity. The 10,000-ton industrial test results show that the catalytic activity of this system exceeds the highest activity of the rare earth catalyst system in the world, and the production cost is close to that of nickel-based butadiene rubber.
Through industrial production and technological improvements, Jinzhou Petrochemical improved its production equipment and automated inspection and control system for rare earth butadiene rubber, solved all the problems of engineering amplification, and designed a 25,000-ton/year rare earth butadiene rubber production plant design basic process package. China's first set of 20,000 tons/year rare earth butadiene rubber production equipment, to achieve the production of rare earth butadiene rubber. The rare earth butadiene rubber produced by this device has been tested by several large tire factories in China. Its mileage index, wear index, and fatigue resistance are significantly higher than those of nickel tires with the same formula. The performance has reached or even surpassed similar foreign products.
