Recently, Japan's IT innovation company Port Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Women's Medical University jointly use IoT (Internet of Things, IoT) technology to verify the safety of remote treatment of hypertension patients.

It is reported that this experimental study officially started in September this year, until March 2019 ended. Subjects were divided into remote diagnosis and treatment of the population and the traditional face-type people, a year later according to the test subject's own wishes to choose whether to accept the remote diagnosis or the traditional diagnosis.

Subjects in the telemedicine clinic need to have their blood pressure measured regularly in their home using a home blood pressure monitor three times before sending the measured data to a dedicated mobile phone software. The doctor in charge of the treatment regularly manages the mobile phone software and refers to these data to decide on the treatment plan. Doctors can also diagnose and prescribe video calls, or text chatting. Finally, the hospital is responsible for sending the medicine to the patient's home based on the prescription.

It is reported that all the subjects of the trial from Tokyo Women's Medical University of hypertension and endocrinology patients. At the beginning, all subjects consistently chose the traditional face consultation. Patients with coronary artery disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and other serious diseases are not within the scope of the test subjects. The head of Tokyo Women's Medical University said that whether remote treatment has the same effect as traditional face-to-face examinations can only be confirmed by data analysis after two years due to traditional face consultation.

Hypertension is the cause of diseases such as cerebral infarction, myocardial infarction and aortic aneurysm. According to statistics, about 43 million people in Japan suffer from high blood pressure, and about half of them are not treated. It is reported that Port from November 2015 onwards through the Internet to build a platform for doctors to provide remote treatment.
