The First Domestic Million-Watt Fiber Laser Launched in China

The First Domestic Million-Watt Fiber Laser Launched in China The first million-watt continuous fiber laser in China was launched in Optics Valley, and China became the second country to master this technology after the United States.

Although only about two freezers are stacked in size, this laser has 10 "energy squares" in its belly. Each 1100 watt produces a laser beam, and 10 laser beams converge on an optical fiber to form a resultant force. It eventually generates 10,000 watts of powerful energy. This laser beam combining technology is considered by the United States as the core secret of the Wanwatt laser.

It is reported that in order to break the monopoly, Yan Dapeng and Li Cheng, two experts of the "Thousand Persons Program" of the two countries, led the team and took one year to research and development to finally master the independent intellectual property rights of the technology.

It is understood that in the international arena, fiber lasers are more and more widely used in industrial shipbuilding, automobile manufacturing, aerospace, military equipment and other fields. Compared with conventional carbon dioxide lasers, its power consumption is only 1/5 of its volume, and its volume is only 1/10, but its speed is 4 times faster, its conversion efficiency is 20% higher, and there is no pollution.

Zhou Bingjun, director of the China Optical Society and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, believes that in the past, China’s core laser devices mainly relied on imports. Today, this technology has taken the lead in the world and will give a huge boost to China’s industrial development.

According to reports, the technology has been incorporated into the national 863 plan next year. Yan Dapeng said that during the year, he was confident that he would sprint 20,000 watts of technology and realize an output value of 160 million yuan.
