Bosch: Plan to invest $100 million to build a new plant in Romania

The Bosch Group has announced that it will build a plant in Cluj-Napoca, Romania to produce and develop automotive electronic control units.

The first phase of the construction of the new plant will start in the second quarter of this year and be completed by the end of 2013. The investment will be 77 million euros (approximately US$ 101 million) and covers an area of ​​38,000 square meters.

It is expected that the new plant will be put into production in mid-2013. By the end of 2013, the number of employees in the plant will reach around 340. In the next few years, Bosch plans to further expand the factory.

Cluj-Napoca is located approximately 300 kilometers northwest of Bucharest, the Romanian capital. The newly-built Romanian plant is part of the Bosch Group's automotive electronics business unit. The business unit employs approximately 20,000 people in 17 production plants around the world. It produces electronic control units, semiconductor components, and sensors required for automotive technology.

The Bosch Group currently operates a sales company in Bucharest, Romania, which sells electric tools, thermoelectricity, safety systems and automotive aftermarket products. In addition, Bosch has a communications dispatch center in TimiÅŸoara, Romania, and a production plant in Blaj.
