Box Alarm fire in Antioch, 4-13-18

Antioch, IL â€“ April 13, 2018

A fire was reported at 25196 W. Rt. 173, at Whiskey Janes Bar. Upon arrival, firefighters observed moderate to heavy smoke coming from the entire building. The area is not hydranted, so crews had to rely on water tenders for support. Command requested assistance from Lake Villa, Fox Lake, and Spring Grove fire departments, along with a ladder truck from Round Lake and a rescue squad from Newport.

The crews quickly located the source of the fire, which was determined to have originated in an HVAC unit. Thanks to the swift response, the fire was contained and extinguished without any injuries reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but early reports suggest it may have been an electrical issue within the system.
