Here's a report from Eric Haak regarding the 2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago on September 11, 2022. The incident took place at a 50x100-foot auto parts store, where a severe fire had ignited in the basement. Despite the building being only 200 feet south of Engine 49’s station, the intense fire load in the lower level forced crews into a defensive operation right from the start.
Below are some photos taken early Sunday morning during the response to the 2-11 Alarm. The fire was deep-seated and challenging to control, which led to a strategic decision to focus on protecting surrounding structures rather than direct interior attack.
