Cummins spends $100 million to expand its production capacity

New York-listed company Cummins Inc. announced today that it will invest in the expansion of its High-Horsepower Technical Center and high-power engine production line in Seymour, USA. The expansion of the center will double the area, which will provide more support for the future production of high-power clean diesel and natural gas engines.

Cummins plans to invest approximately US$100 million in the expansion of the Seymour plant, which will require an increase of approximately 200 employees over the next five years. The factory currently has approximately 450 employees. At the same time, the Seymour factory name was renamed the Seymour Engine Plant by the Cummins Industrial Center. The plant was established in 1976 and currently produces diesel and natural gas engines such as V903, K19, QSK19 and QST30.

The expansion includes the construction of a new assembly line, spraying area and product testing area. It will produce high-power engines covering 19-91L machines. In 2009, sales accounted for 17% of Cummins, which could be used in the mining, power generation, marine, oil and gas and railway markets. Preparation work for the expansion project is about to start and construction is expected to be completed by mid-2011.

 Fumed Silica

Fumed silica is with small particle size, large surface area and porous structure, those properties ensures good adsorption ability and great hygroscopicity. In food powder, fumed silica covers all around the powder, it can separate particles, so to decrease viscosity and to ensure excellent flowing property. And, numerous internal pores of fumed silica can adsorb the humidity around food product, it avoids agglomeration when stored.
