In 2011, the strength of car companies through the test of luxury brand performance dazzling

Before the arrival of the Spring Festival, the production and sales statistics of various car companies in 2011 were released. From a group of data, we can see that after experiencing a sudden slowdown in market growth, many car companies have achieved poor results last year, but there are still many bright eyes. In particular, luxury brands and car manufacturers have maintained a sustained growth despite the twists and turns in the year.

Audi increased 37% year-on-year

Audi brand cars sold in the Chinese market in 2011 was 309,000 vehicles, an increase of 37% year-on-year. The production marks that China has replaced Germany and become Audi's largest global market.

Among them, Audi China's sales volume was 57,900 units, an increase of 89% over the previous year, and domestic Audi sales reached 252,000 units, an increase of 29% over the previous year.

Mercedes-Benz increased 30.6% year-on-year

China has become Mercedes-Benz's third largest single market and fastest growing market. In 2011, Mercedes-Benz's total sales in China reached 193,339 units, an increase of 30.6% year-on-year.

It is reported that last year Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle global sales exceeded 1.36 million, of which luxury car Mercedes-Benz brand sales of 1.26 million, while the Chinese market with more than 30% of the year-on-year growth has become the main force of growth.

Universal growth 8.3% year-on-year

General Motors and its joint ventures sold a total of 2,547,171 vehicles in China in 2011, setting a new record and an increase of 8.3% year-on-year.

Thanks to the record sales performance of Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling’s two major joint ventures, GM has led the sales in China for seven consecutive years.

Shanghai Volkswagen increased 14.9% year-on-year

Shanghai Volkswagen's sales in 2011 exceeded 1.16 million units, and retail volume reached 11,500.97 units, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%.

In respect of the mass brand, the Passat family achieved retail sales of 161,806 vehicles throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of 21%; Tiguan retailed 129,356 vehicles annually; Polo accumulated retail sales of 146,381 units; and LaVida accumulated 2,480,35 units of retail sales. Last year, the Skoda brand retailed 220,089 units, an increase of 10% year-on-year.

Dongfeng Yueda KIA increased 29% year-on-year

In 2011, Dongfeng Yueda Kia sold a total of 432,518 vehicles, and it was among the top eight in the industry, with a year-on-year increase of 29%.

In 2012, Su Nanyong, general manager of Dongfeng Yueda Kia, stated that 2012 will be defined as the “customer satisfaction year” of the company, strengthen the core competitiveness of Dongfeng Yueda Kia, and achieve the full-year goal of 480,000 vehicles.

Dongfeng limited 15.8% YoY growth

In 2011, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. sold 1.477 million vehicles, an increase of 15.8% year-on-year, and nearly 100,000 more than the annual sales target of 1.378 million vehicles.

It is worth mentioning that in 2011, Dongfeng Nissan sold a total of 809,000 vehicles, an increase of 22.3% year-on-year.

Toyota increased 4% year-on-year

Toyota Motor Corporation sold about 883,000 vehicles in the Chinese mainland market in 2011, an increase of 4% year-on-year.

In the case of Toyota last year, although the Japanese earthquake caused a major impact on production, efforts were made to maximise the recovery of losses and basically achieved the sales target of 900,000 vehicles that were initially established. So although the 4% ratio may not seem high, it is of great significance.
