More than 2,000 people evacuated from sudden collapse of ground in Liuzhou suspected of being related to real estate development

At about 11:15 am on May 10th, a large-scale subsidence took place in Hatuchupun, Liuhe District, Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province. Many factories and houses collapsed and more than 2,000 residents in the village were evacuated. Fortunately, the evacuation was not timely. The casualties were found. Some villagers have speculated that the collapse may be related to local real estate development. The specific reasons are still under investigation.

The Network News Network reporter learned from the local authorities that there was a crack in the west of the village and a factory under construction of a commercial house. At the time, the plant at the end of the village collapsed and the interior of the factory collapsed to a depth of nearly one meter. Affected by the incident, a large dwelling with a size of about 10 square feet was instantly collapsed in a residential building next to it. Subsequently, the collapse began to spread around, and wherever they went, the houses were cracked to varying degrees.

After the accident, fire, public security and other departments immediately evacuated the villagers. Considering that the village has no security conditions, it is likely to collapse again at any time. As soon as the fire officers and soldiers face an emergency evacuation of the stay in the village, they search for the site of collapse and look for people who may be buried. As of 13:50 pm the same day, after searching the entire village for many times, no trapped people were found.

At the time of writing, cracks still appeared. The village’s approximately 3,000 square meters of road sections and houses had collapsed and cracked in varying degrees. The villagers stated that the large collapse of the village was estimated to be related to local real estate development. At present, the relevant reasons and specific losses are still under investigation.
