On Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2019, firefighters from Libertyville were called to respond to a reported fire at 232 Red Top Drive. Upon arrival, they quickly assessed the situation and found flames visible through the roof of the multi-family complex. As the fire spread, it was soon escalated to a Box Alarm, prompting firefighters to take a defensive approach.
The blaze caused significant damage, particularly to the second floor of one unit, and burned off a portion of the roof before being brought under control. Despite the intensity, the fire was contained relatively fast, preventing further destruction. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Multiple fire departments from surrounding areas responded to the scene, including Libertyville, Mundelein, Countryside, Lake Bluff, Gurnee, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Round Lake, and Grayslake. The collaborative effort helped manage the situation effectively.
