At 1:47 AM, the Lincolnshire Riverwoods Fire District responded to a reported structure fire on the 300 block of Goshawk Lane in unincorporated Deerfield. As they were en route, the RED Center (Regional Emergency Dispatch Center) informed them that police officers had already arrived and confirmed the fire was fully involved. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story, multi-unit townhome complex with heavy fire coming from the roof. They immediately deployed a hose line for fire suppression and began confirming that all residents had safely evacuated the building. Fortunately, the fire remained contained to the unit of origin.The adjacent buildings were inspected for signs of fire spread, and it was determined that damage was minimal. A Mutual Aid Box alarm was activated to bring in additional personnel and fire investigators. The cause of the fire and the total financial loss are still under investigation.The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD received assistance from firefighters from Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Wheeling, Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights, Highland Park, Countryside, Glencoe, and Northfield, as well as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the RED Center.
This incident highlights the quick response and coordination between multiple agencies to ensure public safety and minimize property damage. Residents in the area were advised to stay alert and follow updates from local authorities. The community is grateful for the efforts of the first responders who worked tirelessly to contain the fire and protect lives.
