The establishment of core technical standards for organic reagents for scientific research in China

Recently, the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" National Science and Technology Support Plan project undertaken by the China Institute of Metrology supported the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the results of the AQSIQ.

Research reagents are the essential and key material basis in scientific research. There is a wide range of scientific research in key fields such as life sciences, new drug creation, and new materials, and it is an important support and guarantee for scientific and technological innovation and development. There are many kinds of reagents for scientific research, wide application, and high quality requirements. However, there is a big gap between the overall level of research reagents used in China and foreign advanced standards, and the core basic organic scientific reagents are still heavily dependent on imports.

To this end, the Chinese Institute of Metrology undertook the National Science and Technology Support Program Key Project “Development and Engineering Research of Organic Reagent Standards for Scientific Research” in 2010, and four organizations such as Tianjin Concord Science and Technology Co., Ltd. used scientific research infrastructure. The formulation and engineering of core reagent standards were studied.

According to Li Hongmei, director of the Institute of Chemistry at the China Institute of Metrology, through the innovation of technical research, mechanisms, and models, the research team focused on solving the formulation and engineering research of organic reagents for scientific research, and established agrochemical grade acetonitrile for the first time. A high-purity organic reagent analysis method system; a package of organic reagents, inorganic isotope reagents, and one set of storage and transportation quality control and evaluation system were established; a set of quality control and evaluation system for organic isotope reagents was established; and scientific research was established. High-purity organic reagents combine the benign mechanisms of production, study and research.

In addition, the research group also innovatively established key preparation technologies such as "ultra-fine real-time on-line distillation control, removal of ultra-trace target impurities in pesticide residues," and applied for 25 standards including 5 national standards. Thirty-one scientific research high-purity organic reagents have laid a good foundation for quality control, technology transformation and promotion.

The review experts believe that some of the research results of this project have reached the international advanced level, and related technologies such as reagent standardization and quality control have filled gaps in the relevant domestic fields and are of great significance to improving the production and quality control of reagents for scientific research in China.
