2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago on Ravenswood Avenue, 12-22-18

The second of two 2-11 alarm fires in Chicago on December 22, 2018, occurred at 6417 N Ravenswood Avenue. The incident took place in the afternoon and involved a one-story commercial building with a truss roof structure. According to Eric Haak, the fire was initially confined to the rear section of the building, which measured approximately 75 by 75 feet. However, it quickly spread, burning through the roof and forcing firefighters to bring in specialized equipment.

Chicago had a 2-11 alarm fire at 6417 N Ravenswood Saturday afternoon (12/22). The fire was in a 1-story commercial structure and was contained mostly to the 75×75 rear section that had a truss roof. The fire eventually burned through the roof and Tower Ladder 23 and the new Tower Ladder 21 were used to bring the fire under control.

Photos from the scene show the intense nature of the blaze and the efforts of the Chicago Fire Department to contain it. The images capture firefighters working closely, using large hose lines, and deploying tower ladders to reach the upper sections of the building. One photo features Engine 56, while another shows Deputy Fire Commissioner Tim Sampey on site, indicating the seriousness of the situation.
