China's first synthesis of new dual-function chelators

For the first time, Chinese scientists and scientists have developed a novel bifunctional chelating agent with fluorescence properties that can be used for rare earth and protein linkage. A few days ago, this research project undertaken by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences passed expert appraisal.
According to reports, the project entitled "Time-resolved Fluorescence Immunoassay for the Synthesis of Rare Earth Bifunctional Chelators" aims to eliminate radioactive contamination and increase the analytical sensitivity of biologically active substances, combining fluorescence imaging, immunohistochemistry, localization hybridization, and DNA microarrays. The need for on-line testing has solved key technical issues for the establishment of an independent and innovative solid-phase time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA) system - the development of novel bifunctional chelators for protein and DNA labeling.
Researchers replaced radioactive isotope-labeled proteins with rare earths to avoid the drawbacks of long radioactive half-lives, short service life of kits, and environmental pollution. By synthesizing and functionalizing organic-inorganic coordination compounds, a novel bifunctional chelating agent, chlorosulfonated o-terphenyl (BTBCT), with fluorescence properties and can be used for rare earth and protein linkage was first developed.
This achievement will not only be of great significance for the study of genes and proteomics, elimination of radioactive contamination, and protection of the environment, but also has practical value in the diagnosis of tumors, genetic variants, and important viruses such as HIV.
