China's four "limit" near the LNG commercial vehicle is optimistic

In the first half of this year, domestic sales of natural gas heavy trucks were only around 12,000, but sales figures for the top 10 mainstream heavy truck manufacturers, such as China National Heavy Duty Truck (17.25, 0.69, 4.17%) and Shaanxi Auto Heavy Trucks, were visible in the first 10 years of this year. The sales of natural gas heavy trucks of the above 10 companies reached 24,727 units in the month, which means that in the second half of the year, the sales volume of natural gas heavy trucks surpassed that of the first half of the year.

 


Although the overall demand for domestic heavy-duty truck market has been sluggish in recent years, the segmented market for natural gas heavy trucks has shown a momentum of vigorous development. According to statistics, in 2011, domestic sales of natural gas heavy trucks were only around 5,000, while in 2012 it reached 12,000, and in 2013 it was close to 30,000. In view of this, mainstream heavy truck manufacturers include Shaanxi Auto, China National Heavy Duty Truck, etc. Both have adjusted their production structure and started to tilt toward the natural gas field. However, the market in the first half of this year was not as vigorous as it was supposed to. Instead, the market has declined.

The decline in sales of natural gas heavy trucks is due to weak demand in the heavy truck market, but the more important issue is the narrowing of the spread between natural gas and diesel.

However, industry insiders believe that the upgrading of emissions will have a significant effect on promoting natural gas heavy trucks, and natural gas heavy trucks will continue to grow.

However, at the national policy level, Liu Guibin, secretary-general of the Gas Vehicle Sub-Technical Committee of the National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee, said that the State Council has recently introduced new energy automobile policies and there are few policies for the application of natural gas vehicles. The country has been paying close attention to pure electric power as a breakthrough that may catch up with Western developed countries. This is at the national strategic level.

According to Liu Guibin, in fact, China's current pure electric vehicles have been at a loss. Looking at natural gas vehicles, both companies and users are profitable without much support from national policies. In the field of commercial vehicles, Shaanxi Automobile Group now has a market holding of 20,000 to 30,000 LNG heavy trucks, which is very impressive. The rapid development of LNG heavy trucks shows that this market segment can be driven entirely by demand, and the outlook is optimistic.

As a representative of a production company, Sun Xia, director of the New Energy Institute of the Power Design Institute of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Technology Development Center, explained the advantages of natural gas heavy trucks. She said that heavy trucks account for less than 10% of the vehicle market, but fuel consumption accounts for 70% of the total. Therefore, the development of natural gas heavy trucks has a certain role in adjusting China's energy structure. Moreover, the development of natural gas heavy trucks will help reduce the operating costs of transport companies. According to the long-term price adjustment plan of the National Energy Administration, the natural gas price is 70% of the price of gasoline and diesel, and the price advantage is obvious. At present, natural gas heavy truck technology is very mature (including engine technology) and is the world's most easily promoted and popularized technology. Sun Xia believes that natural gas vehicles are superior to pure electric vehicles in terms of economy and resources.

In foreign countries, the development of LNG vehicles is also being promoted.

Recently, Italy's largest natural gas transport fleet was born. Since 2015, the logistics transportation of Liddle, a multinational supermarket chain, in Italy's 570 sales outlets will be completed by the 15 Iveco Stralis LNG fleet equipped with Cursor8 Euro VI natural gas engines provided by FPT Industries. The engine's power is strong. It is reported that these 15 StralisLNG vehicles are only a small part of them.

In Europe, many countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands also use LNG in the transportation sector.
