The General Office of the State Council has recently issued the "Circular on Implementation of the 2016 Action Plan for the Implementation of the Quality Development Outline," and has proposed a series of policy measures to carry out quality brand promotion actions, strengthen supply-side structural reforms, and promote the building of a strong quality nation. Quality and branding have once again become a key issue for China’s reform and development. “Made in China” sounds a clarion call to quality.

In this regard, various media have used a more general and more grounded view: “The quality of smart toilet seats has been upgraded to the State Department’s document”. Daily necessities such as toilet seats and rice cookers are popular products for Chinese tourists to visit Japan in recent years. This phenomenon reflects the consumer's lack of trust in the quality of domestic products. It is a natural choice to enhance the overall quality and reputation of "Made in China." In recent years, all sectors of society have repeatedly mentioned the strategy of “rejuvenating the country through quality”. For example, Li Yizhong, who once served as minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in a speech in 2014 that because quality has not been rejuvenated as a basic national policy, some companies have been drifting in quality and have many problems. Sun Mingbo, deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of Tsingtao Brewery, submitted a bill last year on the national "two sessions" to require legislation to promote quality improvement. He believes that rejuvenating the country through quality is the only way for the rise of great powers.

Today's China is not China in yesterday. With the increase of income and improvement of living standards, people have pursued quality of life and taste. As more and more Chinese people go abroad and travel the world, people have experience and comparison of quality. However, some enterprises still stagnate in the old routines of plagiarism, imitation, and low-price competition. Although "Made in China" has greatly improved its quality, it still has a long way to go from consumer demand.

In fact, China has long recognized the importance of quality. In the early 1990s, it put forward the strategy of “rejuvenating the country through quality” and raised the quality of products to the height of the rise and fall of the country concerned. However, people have the impression that there has been less emphasis on quality in our country for a period of time. The detours during this period are worth reflecting on.

To eat well and wear well can be said to be a permanent human nature. When the income level is low, we suppress the desire for high quality of life. However, China’s market environment continues to change. In the face of international and domestic realities, "Made in China" must achieve a magnificent turn, from "cheap goods" or even "to spread the goods" into high-quality synonymous. Now that China is committed to economic restructuring and upgrading, the "China-made" way out is to shift from low quality, low value-added to high quality and high added value.
