China's first 2800kW planetary gear reducer has successfully passed on-site evaluation organized by the China Coal Industry Association at the cement plant of Hebei Jinniu Energy Co., Ltd. This significant achievement marks a major milestone in the development of high-power transmission equipment within China's building materials and metallurgical sectors.
The 2800kW planetary gear reducer, jointly developed by the Shanghai Branch of the Coal Research Institute and the Suzhou Metallurgical Machinery Plant of Baosteel Group, is currently the largest such unit in use across these industries. It was installed in the main drive system of the No. 1 cement mill at Hebei Jinniu Energy Cement Factory in September 2004. Since then, it has operated continuously for over 7,500 hours, demonstrating excellent performance and reliability.
Throughout its operation, the reducer has maintained smooth running conditions, with noise levels, vibration, and temperature rise all meeting the design specifications. Its successful application has not only validated the technical capabilities of the Chinese industry but also provided a reliable and efficient solution for large-scale industrial applications.
This breakthrough underscores the growing strength of domestic engineering and manufacturing in China, paving the way for further advancements in heavy machinery and industrial equipment. The positive results from this project are expected to encourage more innovation and adoption of locally developed high-performance gear systems in various industrial sectors.
