Fatal fire in Chicago, 4-10-21

Still and Box. 9400 Halsted. Two-story brick building. One victim reported so far.

Still and Box at 9400 Halsted. A single adult female was rescued from the scene. The situation is serious. An adult male is still unaccounted for.

The fire at Still and Box, 9400 Halsted, has been contained. Fire crews are re-entering the building with hand lines to finish searching and locate any hot spots. The roof is now fully collapsed.

Fire officials are warning that this incident at Still and Box on Halsted will likely be a fatal fire. One non-ambulatory occupant was trapped inside. The flames were too intense to allow for a rescue. The victim was an adult male.

CFD crews plan to return to 9400 Halsted at 10 AM to distribute smoke alarms in the neighborhood. No alarms were detected when firefighters entered the building, raising concerns about safety and preparedness in the area.
