Green recycling of abandoned tires opens up a new path for sustainable development

Recently, the "industrial integrated control of low temperature pyrolysis process and complete sets of equipment for waste rubber tires" developed by Shanghai Jinjian Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. has passed the results appraisal organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is reported that this technical achievement is expected to change China's chaotic situation in the recycling of waste tires and open up a new path for green sustainable development for the industry.

With the rapid development of the automobile industry, the "black pollution" caused by used tires has become increasingly serious. The developed countries in the world have started to govern the “black pollution” and developed a series of waste resource technologies. Developed countries such as the United States, the European Union, and Japan currently use waste tires as fuels, and use them as thermal energy in industries such as cement and power generation.

For a long time, China mainly used abandoned engineering tires and heavy-duty tires for the production of reclaimed rubber, while discarded car tires were mostly used for indigenous refining. Obviously, the above technologies cannot realize the complete resource, harmless, and high-value utilization of waste tire resources. What is even more serious is that a large number of undocumented and illegal land refining enterprises have poor production conditions and the original production process is backward, causing serious pollution and damage to the environment.

The “industrial integrated control of waste rubber tire low-temperature pyrolysis process and complete sets of equipment” fundamentally solves the problem of energy saving and environmental protection in tire recycling. It adopts low temperature (≤420°C), no new catalytic pyrolysis process, depolymerization flash cracking, and enhanced indirect heat transfer technology to achieve continuous industrial production; the non-condensable gas generated during pyrolysis process is harmless at high temperatures. (>850°C) Use technology to provide thermal self-sufficiency for pyrolysis reactions, effectively reducing production energy consumption.

At the same time, the disposal of waste rubber tires can produce renewable fuel oil and industrial carbon black, which has the advantages of saving oil resources, energy conservation and environmental protection, and low cost, and can partially replace conventional conventional carbon black in related industries. The technology does not require the use of catalysts in the production process, which is the first of its kind at home and abroad, and the pyrolysis temperature is the lowest. The pyrolysis temperatures of the remaining projects are mostly above 850°C.

The experts participating in the results appraisal meeting are optimistic about the project and propose to further increase R&D, manufacturing, productivity, and promotion in the industry.

Zhao Jianjun, chairman of Golden Key, said that in the next few years, it will plan and construct 230,000 tons, 150,000 to 200,000 tons and 300,000 tons of waste rubber tires in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Midwest and Northeast China respectively. And 100,000 tons of pyrolysis production base.
