Historic 3-11 Alarm for the plane crash in Chicago, 12-8-72

Building on last week’s post, I’m sharing some extremely rare images from the well-known 1972 plane crash near Midway Airport. I don’t think much context is needed here. According to CFD records, the crash occurred at 2:29 p.m. on December 8, 1972, at 3715-23 W. 70th Place. The emergency response was classified as a 3-11 alarm. These photos capture the recovery phase and were taken from a vantage point that the media was not allowed to access. Two people on the ground lost their lives, along with 43 passengers and crew aboard the aircraft. Interestingly, there were 18 survivors from the flight. There is a video of the incident available on YouTube, but the quality is quite poor.
