The Municipal Economic Commission issued the "2008 Chongqing Industrial Technological Investment Investing Plan." These projects include: MDI Integration Project, 850,000 MT of Methanol from Chemicals, 600,000 MT of PTA from Pengwei Petrochemical, SAIC Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Project, Shuang Qiang Group All-steel Radial Tires, Runtong New Thermal Power Base, Long March Heavy Duty Casting and forging base, Dongqing Aluminum Corporation 200,000 tons large aluminum ingots, Tianhe Group 100,000 tons electrolytic copper and Guohong Technology Digital Communication Industrial Base.
According to reports, the city has identified Shuangqian Group (Chongqing) Tire Co., Ltd. as its all-steel radial tire project as the 2008 Industrial Investment Project. The project plans to invest a total of 3 billion yuan. The first phase of the project will be completed and put into operation in September 2008. In the first half of 2009, it will have an annual production capacity of 2.5 million sets of all steel radial tires.
Invest 29 billion laptops
It is reported that this year our city will launch centralized investment promotion for five major industrial bases, including high-tech industrial clusters and petrochemical industrial clusters. At present, we have formulated investment promotion plans for the world’s top 500 companies and multinational companies. Municipal Economic Commission officials revealed that the city is ready to introduce Hewlett-Packard, Taiwan Compal Group, respectively invest 14.5 billion yuan, to open two major notebook production base, each of the annual output is initially set to 1,000 to 20 million units. In the next five years, the city will add 1 million automobile production capacity with an output value of 70 billion yuan, of which more than 50% of accessories need to be purchased locally. There are 13 large-scale automobile and motorcycle projects that have been included in the implementation plan of the city, involving a total investment of 31.115 billion yuan.
