Singapore wants to select liquefied gas importers to import and sell liquefied natural gas

According to Singapore’s “Lianhe Zaobao” reported on January 15, the Singapore Energy Market Authority (EMA) has selected five companies to bid for the Liquefied Natural Gas Aggregator (LNG), import LNG and sell it in Singapore.
These companies have previously defeated 17 other companies and passed the first round of selection. The Bureau will begin its second round of selection and is expected to select aggregators in the second quarter of 2008.
According to the Bureau’s 14th statement, aggregators need to pool the needs of Singapore users for regasified liquefied natural gas, purchase these liquefied natural gas, and sell them to end users.
The aggregators will obtain exclusive licenses to import and sell liquefied natural gas, with an initial volume of up to 3 million metric tons per year of gasified LNG. Singapore’s first LNG terminal is expected to be completed in 2012.
