Breakthrough in the development of bearing super-precision machine tools

Recently, China's self-developed "multi-pole electromagnetic chuck type super-finishing machine tool" has successfully passed the expert technology appraisal organized by the China Machinery Industry Federation. Experts have highlighted that this advanced equipment will fill a critical domestic gap, significantly enhancing the level of manufacturing in the old industrial bases of Northeast China. More importantly, it marks a significant step toward transforming China from a major bearing producer into a true bearing power. This development is expected to play a vital role in elevating the overall standards of mechanical processing in the country. According to reports, China's bearing super-precision equipment technology is still not fully mature. Many companies continue to rely on outdated roller-type machines and manual polishing methods. As a result, the surface roughness, waviness, and vibration values of processed bearing channels often fail to meet industry standards. This leads to low qualification rates, poor product accuracy, and weak market competitiveness. Currently, most high-end ultra-finishing machines are imported from the U.S., Germany, and Japan. These machines typically use pressure roller or roller-type mechanisms, which are not only costly but also deliver unsatisfactory results. Common issues include workpiece indentations and scratches, leading to many imported systems being underutilized or even left idle. In contrast, the newly appraised multi-pole electromagnetic chuck-type super-finishing machine tool is part of the Torch Plan by the Ministry of Science and Technology and an industrialization demonstration project supported by the National Development and Reform Commission. After years of research and development, the prototype has been completed, and small-scale production has already begun. Performance tests and real-world production assessments have confirmed that all technical specifications meet the design requirements. It effectively solves common problems found in traditional press-roll and roller-type precision equipment, offering significant advantages in quality improvement, resource conservation, and increased production efficiency. Moreover, its price is just one-tenth of the imported alternatives, making it a game-changer for Chinese manufacturers.
