Baoji plans to build the largest auto parts base in the west

The absence of a strong supporting infrastructure for auto parts has long been a challenge for Baoji's automotive industry, limiting its growth potential while also creating significant investment opportunities. On the morning of March 28th, the Baoji Hi-Tech Zone organized an investment attraction seminar, drawing auto parts manufacturers from across the country to explore business prospects in Baoji. As one of Baoji’s key industries, the automobile and auto parts manufacturing sector plays a vital role in the region’s economy. Shaanxi Automobile Group Baoji Huashan Engineering Vehicle Co., Ltd., a leading producer of medium-duty trucks in Shaanxi Province, aims to increase its annual vehicle production to 60,000 units by 2010. However, the limited availability of local auto part suppliers and the high cost of sourcing components from distant locations have become major obstacles for the company’s expansion. To address these challenges, the Baoji Hi-Tech Zone has launched a major initiative to establish the largest auto parts production base in western China. This project will provide centralized management, unified services, and a comprehensive support system, positioning it as a hub for industrial incubation, technological innovation, and employment development. By strengthening the local supply chain, the zone aims to not only support Baohua Vehicle Company but also enhance the competitiveness of other special vehicle manufacturers in the area, such as Baoji Special Purpose Vehicle, Galaxy Fire Truck, and Gem Special Vehicle. This strategic move is expected to boost the overall development of Baoji’s automotive industry and contribute significantly to the growth of Shaanxi’s broader automotive sector.
