China becomes the world's largest AIS shore-based network system

In order to ensure the safety of navigation of ships, the China Maritime Safety Administration has fully promoted the construction of the General Ship Automatic Identification System (AIS) shore-based network. At present, the network system covers all of China's coastal waters and inland rivers above grade 4 high-grade waterways, and has become the world's largest AIS shore-based network system.
Huang He, deputy director of the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport, said at a press conference held in Beijing on the 10th that with the in-depth implementation of China's marine economic strategy, the shipping economy has become an important growth point for the national economy, and waterway transportation has accounted for 90% of foreign trade. the above. The increasing size, speed and specialization of ships have led to an increase in the number of ships and navigational density in China's important waters and ports, which seriously threaten the safety of navigation and the marine ecological environment. In order to ensure the safety of navigation and clean marine environment, the China Maritime Safety Administration has comprehensively promoted the AIS system in China's coastal areas and inland rivers. This system can ensure the mutual communication between the ship and the ship or between the ship and the land management department, avoiding the collision of the ship, ensuring the safety of navigation, protecting the water environment, and improving the economic benefits of water transportation.
Huang He said that with the promotion and application of AIS shipyards for domestic navigation, AIS shore-based networks will play a more important role. In addition to establishing a digital communication network between ships and ships, ships and shore stations, and realizing information exchange, the system can also be combined with an electronic chart system to realize navigation functions such as route design, navigation monitoring and automatic alarm. To a certain extent, this network basically has the function of the Internet of Things. Its communication function and the large amount of information resources it stores have established a "digital bridge" for effective communication between ships, routes, environment and personnel. .
Huang He emphasized that the AIS shore-based network system can also monitor ships in real time to prevent collisions and grounding accidents of large oil tankers and dangerous goods ships, resulting in crude oil (98.92, -3.01, -2.95%), dangerous goods leaking polluted waters, and accident handling. For the prevention of prevention, effectively protect the marine environment.
As of March 31, 2011, 20,000 ships in China's coastal and inland rivers have been equipped with shipborne AIS equipment. Before July 1, 2012, more than 134,000 ships will be equipped.
