Component company Wescast enters Wuhan

On May 16th, several foreign-invested enterprises, including Wuhan Development Zone and Wescast Canada, held a signing ceremony for auto parts projects, with a total contract investment of 1.186 billion yuan. Wescast Canada, the world's largest manufacturer of automotive engine exhaust systems, is investing 99 million U.S. dollars in the project located in Wuhan Development Zone. The company plans to start production by the end of next year. Mao Fu, President of Wescast Asia Pacific, Canada, shared insights about the decision-making process: "We initially evaluated over 40 potential locations in China. Our ideal site needed excellent educational infrastructure, convenient logistics, proximity to our customers, well-developed related industries, and favorable policies. After an extensive period of research and evaluation, we concluded that Wuhan Development Zone was the best fit. That’s why we finally chose Wuhan." Wuhan Development Zone has been a key player in the automotive industry for over 15 years, thanks to the construction of Shenlong Automobile. Today, it hosts 24 Fortune 500 auto companies and 128 complete vehicle and parts manufacturers. The total investment in the zone exceeds 70 billion yuan, with more than 20 automotive and parts R&D centers established. This has helped the area develop into a leading base for advanced manufacturing centered around automobiles and their components.
